Xabi Alonso Spanish Pic

(full name Xabier Alonso Olano) was born on the 25th of November, in 1981 in Tolosa… a town in Spain. Xabi Alonso is a Spanish midfield footballer who is currently playing for Real Madrid, following a transfer from Liverpool in August 2009 for £30 million. Alonso wears the number 22 shirt at Real Madrid.

He is best known for his great goals from very long distances, like the one against Luton Town in the FA Cup in January of 2006. Another famous goal was against Newcastle the 20 September 2006 when Alonso lobbed the ball over the head of the Newcastle goalkeeper from more than 50 yards.

Xabi Alonso comes from a well known family within the football world. His brother Mikel plays football for Real Sociedad in Spain as a midfielder, and the other brother, Jon, is a football referee. Xabi’s father was also a famous football player who played for Real Sociedad as well as FC Barcelona.

The debut of this amazing player was with Real Sociedad in the 1999-2000 season against Logroes. In the 2000-2001 season Xabi Alonso was on loan at the SD Eibar team. After that Xabi returned to the first team of Real Sociedad.

Xabi continued to progress in the footballing spectre with a spectacular career in England, playing for Liverpool and scoring his famous long range goals. He then moved to the world famous Real Madrid in 2009 for a £30 million transfer fee.

He was selected to play in the Spanish national team in April 2003. In fact the first goal of the Spanish squad in the 2006 World Cup was scored by Xabi Alonso against Ukraine on 14th of June.

London - Arsenal have made an initial approach for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, according to British media reports Monday.

Manager Arsene Wenger is keen to pair the 26-year-old with his Spanish compatriot Cesc Fabregas and is believed to be prepared to offer around 10.5 million pounds
(20.7 million dollars), the fee Liverpool paid to bring him from Real Sociedad four years ago.
